About the artist
Nicole Reehorst's choreography and performance emphasizes movement as an intentional expression of individual identity. Influenced by her background in classical ballet and her persistent curiosity for contemporary form, concept and medium, Nicole explores dance as a method for embracing embodied nuance and sharing personal stories. A current Master of Fine Arts in Dance candidate at University of Michigan, Nicole is utilizing choreography and performance to research the complicated power(s) of femininity, “collaboration” and embodied mindfulness.
Nicole graduated from Interlochen Arts Academy and earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ballet Performance from The University of Oklahoma. She has performed with Nashville Ballet, Oklahoma Festival Ballet, Arkansas Festival Ballet and in several freelance projects. Her choreography has been presented at Nashville Ballet, University of Michigan, The University of Oklahoma, Interlochen Arts Camp, Joffrey Texas, and Michigan Youth Arts Festival.
